TUX Droid - Linux Tux Roboter im Pinguin Design für Freaks

Wer kennt ihn nicht, Tux - den Pinguin und das Maskottchen von Linux, dem Open Source Betriebssystem von Linus Torvalds. Frech und irgend wie immer “gut drauf” wurde “Tux” von Larry Ewing 1996 geschaffen. In vielen Varianten tritt Tux als Vertreter der Idee von Open Source weltweit auf. Ob als Plüschtierchen oder auf T-Shirts - er macht immer eine gute Figur in seinem Smoking.
Was wäre allerdings wenn Tux nun interaktiv wäre und mehr könnte, als nur “gut” auszusehen? Genau diese Frage haben sich einige Entwickler ebenfalls gestellt und einen Roboter auf dem Gedanken von Open Source entwickelt.
Wir wollen Euch eine neue Variante von Tux vorstellen, die nicht nur niedlich aussieht - sondern die sehr viel kann und ganz den Gedanken von Open Source verfolgt: TUX den Roboter für Linux.
Das Konzept
Stellt Euch einfach vor, vor Euch sitzt Tux und dieser ist eine Art Interface zwischen Euerem Rechner und Euch. Ein Interface das Ihr frei programmieren könnt - ganz nach Eueren Bedürfnissen und Anforderungen - so wie man es von Linux gewohnt ist. Dieses Interface besteht aus Hardware und Software, die vollkommen dokumentiert sind.
Die Hardware ist:
- Tux Droid: Der Roboter - bestehend aus diversen Auslösern, Sensoren, Audio Ein- und Ausgängen. Verbunden wird Tux über eine drahtlose Verbindung mit dem Tux Dongle…
- Tux Dongle : Ein kleiner Fisch im Design von Tux, der die Verbindung zwischen Tux Droid und dem Computer ermöglicht. Dieser ist im Prinzip ein Interface zwischen dem drahtlosen Netzwerk und dem USB Protokol Eueres Rechners.
Tux - Dein Freund im Haus
Die Anwendungsmöglichkeiten für Tux sind sehr vielfältig. Stellt Euch vor, Ihr sitzt morgens beim Frühstück und aktiviert Eueren Tux. Ein freundliches “Guten Morgen!” könnte erklingen. Danach schaut Tux in Deinen Posteingang und liest Deine Emails vor. Danach sind Deine RSS Feeds an der Reihe, in denen Dich Tux über das informiert - was Dich interessiert. Noch schnell einen Blick in Deinen Terminkalender, in dem Tux Dich auf den Geburtstag Deiner Freundin aufmerksam macht, den Du sonst vielleicht vergessen hättest. Vielleicht rufst Du sie einfach an. Dazu genügt es, den VoIP Modus via Skype zu aktivieren. Halte einfach den Flügel von Tux gedrückt, um im Telefonbuch nach der Nummer Deiner Freundin zu suchen. Danach eine Berührung auf den Kopf von TUX - und schon stellt dieser via Skype eine Telefonverbindung her.
Die Anwendungsmöglichkeiten von Tux sind sehr groß - und es werden ständig neue entwickelt, da die Schittstellen “OpenSource” sind.

RSS reader - beta release With this gadget Tux Droid will notify you if you have any RSS feed updates. Multiple types of notifications can be set, like using the TTS to read the feeds. Also comes with a clever automatic translation function. |

Mein Fazit
Ich habe keine 4 Minuten gebraucht um mir sofort einen Tux Droid zu bestellen. Leider ist auf Grund der großen Nachfrage keiner mehr verfügbar und man kann Tux nur “preordern”. Ich für meinen Teil freue mich schon sehr auf meinen Tux Droid!
